Heather Orton
Hi! My name is Heather and I am a Reiki Master/Teacher, Soul Journey facilitator, Angel Therapy Practitioner®, CranioSacral Practitioner, Reflexologist and Yoga Nidra Instructor.
Ever since I was a child I have been interested in the unknown; the hidden realm of spirit and our mind/body connection each ignited my sense of curiosity and wonder. However, like so many others, I learnt to suppress my intuitive gifts, ignore my connection to spirit, and ultimately doubt my inner voice. I tried to keep my sensitive nature hidden, but the more I tried to suppress it the more my anxiety rose. Eventually, my physical health began to suffer and when western medicine could not help, my path led me to alternative forms of healing. After receiving regular Reiki sessions my health drastically improved. I began to understand the relationship between my mind, body and spirit and knew that it was time to turn my attention back to the mysterious aspects of existence that had called to me so long ago.
Ever since I have dedicated myself to learning more about alternative methods of healing; including the use of herbs, essential oils, meditation, journeys, and of course reiki. I truly believe that the connection between the body, mind and spirit is of utmost importance when it comes to maintaining our health and wellbeing. It is my desire to assist individuals down the path of self discovery and ultimately improve their health along the way!
What is My Background/ Teachings?
I believe it is important to acknowledge the teachings that have inspired my own practice and where my ancestral roots trace back. I was born in Canada but through both my maternal and paternal lineages I have strong connections to England, Ireland, Scotland and Germany. I have always felt deeply called to the earth based, animistic practices of Ireland and Scotland and as such continue to educate myself about these practices and integrate their teachings into my own work. However I also believe it is important, being Canadian born, that my own personal rituals be heavily rooted in my intimate relationship to the Canadian landscape and it’s unique seasonal rhythms.
My relationship to journeying was initially cultivated through my work with Sandy Day, a Reiki Master and healer located in the High River area. From there I went on to study under Manfred Lucas and Gay Hanson (of the the Cree tradition). I have also taken classes from the Foundation of Shamanic Studies following the teachings of Michael Harner.
My work with plants was initially inspired by my studies at the Wild Rose College through Terry Willard and Blaine Andrusek and has since been developed through the beautiful work of Jaki Daniels.
